Dry

Dry vs. Dehydrated Skin—What’s the Difference?

Basically, dry skin is a skin type, and dehydrated skin is a skin condition.

Dry skin is usually inherited and tends to have fewer oil glands, making it harder to retain moisture. Overall, dry skin lacks oil, with typical signs like flakiness, redness, itching, and sensitivity.

Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, lacks water—not oil—and is often triggered by external factors, like changes in the weather, lack of exfoliation, indoor heating, hot showers, harsh skincare, too much caffeine, or not enough water. Common symptoms include tightness, dullness, sudden fine lines, and sensitivity.

The solution? Hydrate skin, then seal in moisture.
